Coach Betts analysis
Our Utah checklist begins with pursuit angles and the first defender to arrive. A secure tackle in space can keep a routine completion from becoming an explosive gain. A defender who reaches the ball quickly but fails to finish may create more work than the initial pressure solved.
What to watch next
In the next game, watch the help arriving behind that first contact. Sound pursuit gives a defense another chance when the ball carrier escapes. We would value those repeatable habits over treating any single tackle as evidence of an entire identity. The best defensive sequences let the next player know where his help is.
